Crop monitoring

Hortactix specializes in developing pest and disease crop monitoring and forecasting systems based climatic and seasonality data collected from pests, diseases and the environment. Economic threshold levels are then developed which are used as an indicator to apply eco-friendly pest management strategies.

Crop monitoring is the corner stone to our integrated pest and disease management (IPDM) programs so that eco-friendly pesticides are only applied as a last resort and only when needed.

Used in the framework of an IPDM program crop monitoring results in a clean green approach to pest and disease management and enables us to reduce pesticides applications over the growing season. This approach is also beneficial in our pesticide resistance management programs.

Minimising pesticide applications over the growing season is the main outcome of crop monitoring which is beneficial to the crops biodiversity, plant and soil health and pesticide resistance management. All services at Hortactix are fully tax deductible.
